Auditor Galloway announces audit of Sullivan County

County's 2012 report recommended increased oversight, received 'good' overall rating

05/17/2016

Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway today announced her office has begun a regularly scheduled audit of Sullivan County, located in northern Missouri. As part of the audit, auditors will examine past report findings and review current county policies and operations. The county received a "good" overall performance rating in its most recent audit, which was released in July 2012.

In the 2012 report, auditors found the county collector-treasurer failed to maintain complete records for payments received and refunds issued, and activities were not adequately reviewed by the county commission or county clerk. The county also had inadequate procedures to monitor vehicle and fuel use of the sheriff's department and county road and bridge department. In addition, the county's public administrator did not provide sufficient oversight for expenditures made by nursing home facility employees on behalf of wards in her care.

Individuals who would like to provide information for consideration during the audit may contact the State Auditor's Office at moaudit@auditor.mo.gov or 800-347-8597.
