Auditor Galloway announces audit of Twin City License Office in Jefferson County

Citizen input requested for audit of license office serving Festus, Crystal City

05/06/2016

Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway has announced her office has started an audit of the Twin City Contract License Office in Jefferson County. The office is located in Festus and serves the communities of Festus and Crystal City, collectively referred to as the "Twin Cities." It is one of eight license offices that will undergo an audit this year.

"Our team will examine the Twin City office's operations to ensure Missourians are being served efficiently," Auditor Galloway said. "Citizens who have regular contact with these offices often have valuable insight for our auditors, and I encourage anyone who would like to share information to get in touch with my office."

The Missouri Department of Revenue is responsible for selecting agents to operate the 177 contract license offices in the state. These offices process transactions related to driver licenses, vehicle titles and license plates. In 2009 state law was amended to allow the Missouri State Auditor's Office to audit contract license offices, and this is the first audit for the Twin City License Office in Festus, just south of St. Louis.

Audits of the Marshall, Warrensburg, Salem and De Soto License Offices were announced earlier this spring and are currently underway. Last year, Auditor Galloway issued audit reports for five contract license offices located in the cities of Carthage, Kirksville, Monroe City, St. Charles and Warrenton.

Individuals who would like to provide information for consideration during the audit may contact the State Auditor's Office at moaudit@auditor.mo.gov or 800-347-8597.
