Auditor Galloway invites public to attend hearing on revised tax rate rules on June 3

Comments may be provided at the hearing, written comments accepted through June 6

05/26/2016

The Office of Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway will hold a public hearing on two proposed rules designed to provide guidance on calculating tax ceilings and reporting tax rates to the State Auditor's Office for local taxing entities, such as counties, municipalities and school districts. The revisions are intended to clarify current procedures used by taxing entities rather than institute new requirements.

The hearing will be held on Friday, June 3, beginning at 10 a.m. at 301 W. High St., Room 493 of the Truman State Office Building in Jefferson City. The meeting will also be lived streamed through Periscope.

Comments on the proposed rules can be made in person at the public hearing, and written comments will be accepted through June 6. Written comments can be mailed to: Missouri State Auditor's Office, General Counsel Paul Harper, P.O. Box 869, Jefferson City, MO 65102 or emailed to rules@auditor.mo.gov. The proposed rules were published in the Missouri Register May 2.

The hearing will be live streamed on Periscope beginning at 10 a.m., and can be accessed by following @MOAuditorNews on Twitter or Periscope.

The proposed rules and related forms are posted online.
