Auditor Galloway announces start of Pemiscot County hospital audit

Citizens may provide anonymous tips, information through Whistleblower Hotline

03/31/2017

Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway announced the start of an audit of the Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital in the Southeast Missouri city of Hayti. The audit will occur as part of a series of audits of county hospitals, which will focus on financial and operating best practices for acute care facilities that are critical to individuals who live and work in rural communities.

"Missouri families often depend on county hospitals to provide critical services, especially in rural areas, and these facilities often face challenges associated with funding and staffing needs," Auditor Galloway said. "My audits will review financial management and operations and I encourage residents with information related to these issues to contact my anonymous Whistleblower Hotline with their concerns."

The goal of the audit is to identify key factors impacting finances for the Pemiscot County Hospital. Audits of Putnam County Rural Hospital in Unionville and Ray County Memorial Hospital in Richmond are also ongoing.

Individuals with information on these or other audits may contact the State Auditor's Whistleblower Hotline by calling 800-347-8597, by emailing moaudit@auditor.mo.gov, or by using the new online submission form at auditor.mo.gov/hotline.
