JEFFERSON CITY, Mo (July 30, 2018) Missouri State Auditor Nicole Galloway recently announced that her office has started a regularly scheduled audit of Howell County, located in south central Missouri. The most recent audit of Howell County was completed in 2014, with the county receiving an overall performance rating of fair.
"This audit will review county processes to ensure taxpayer resources have been used effectively and appropriately. Any findings will include recommendations for improvements," Auditor Galloway said. "Those who have information that would be helpful to this audit are encouraged to contact us through the Whistleblower Hotline."
A 2014 audit of Howell County recommended improvements to the County Collector's office and property tax system. Additional findings related to the public administrator's office, the sheriff's office and the county's processes for fuel usage.
