Review initiated by citizen petition; anyone with relevant information encouraged to contact Whistleblower Hotline

06/07/2019

State Auditor Nicole Galloway today announced her office has begun a citizen-requested audit of the government of the City of Raytown, a suburb of Kansas City located in Jackson County. The review will include an audit of the 16th Judicial Circuit, Raytown Municipal Division.

"Residents of Raytown formally petitioned my office to conduct an independent review of the city's financial practices to ensure operations are efficient and effective," Auditor Galloway said. "I appreciate the engagement of citizens in this process, and I encourage those with specific concerns to contact my office through the Whistleblower Hotline."

Under Missouri law, the State Auditor`s office may be called on to audit a municipality if enough qualified voters of that entity request the audit. The Raytown petition audit required 1,337 signatures.

Individuals with information related to the audit are encouraged to contact the State Auditor's Whistleblower Hotline by calling 800-347-8597, by emailing moaudit@auditor.mo.gov, or by using the online submission form at auditor.mo.gov/hotline. Callers may choose to remain anonymous.
